Jello Shots in Oranges & 5 Minute Hobo Packs

Every year on Joel's birthday we go camping; his birthday is on June 1st, which is probably one of the most exciting days of the year as it sort of unofficially announces the commencement of summer, and it's the perfect time of the year to spend with our friends in the woods. I've been spending the last couple of days getting prepared.
I got inspired to make jello shots by Emma at A Beautiful Mess. It's awesome because you make them inside a citrus fruit, such as an orange, and then you can cut the orange into slices once the jello jellifies- jello slices! It's genius!

Mine weren't as classy as Emma's. I used packets of Jello and Absolute Vodka instead of cold water.
But they will definitely do the job! So colourful too! (I used lime and watermelon.. mmmmm) plus I cut up some of the orange inners and put little chunks into the jello. I used the rest of the oranges to make a fruit salad to bring with us! We also prepared some "hobo packs", which are basically potatoes and onions and whatever else- here: peppers and garlic, and you wrap it up in tin foil. When you're camping you just toss it on the fire and BAM, just like that, a side dish :).

I also made Joel a cake--- well actually it was supposed to be one of those cupcake-on-the-bottom-cake-on-the-top things where you just grab off the section you want and you don't need forks or plates (perfect for camping, right?) but instead it just turned into a bunch of giant cupcakes. But I'm okay with that. Who doesn't love cupcakes?

Have a good weekend everyone! I know I will :D :D Seriously, SO EXCITED! I love camping :D
